Hisoka slips into the welcoming shade of the library. He checks one last time that he isn't followed, then heads down the hall to a dissimulated staircase. Seconds later, he’s up in his beloved hidden reading nook… where someone already is.
Wufei lifts his eyes from his book. “Hiding from Tsuzuki?”
Hisoka nods as he sits down. It’s soothing to be near Wufei, like a refreshing halt in a clearing. He respects Hisoka’s personal space, and his emotions are usually guarded, so Hisoka’s empathy doesn’t go into overdrive.
“I surmise he wanted you to “have fun and let loose for once”?” Wufei asks.
Hisoka snorts. “Yeah. Looks like Duo had the same idea.”
“He tried to drag me to the beach! In the middle of a heatwave! I hope they find each other and go together.”
“Yeah. Let’s hope they don’t team up to find us instead.”
Wufei shudders. Duo and Tsuzuki working together is a guaranteed recipe for disaster. “Tsuzuki is still banned from the library, right? We’ll be fine as long as we stay here?”
“Yes.”
“Excellent.”
Hisoka picks up a book from the nearby shelf. As far as he’s concerned, it sounds like a perfect summer afternoon.
