"I don't like this." Sungjong carefully didn't stamp his foot, as much as he wanted to. He'd (mostly) grown out of the impulse to play up the bratty maknae, although right now he found it easier because he wasn't around the rest of Infinite.
"Like what?"
Sungjong looked to his right, and bowed to Eunkwang. "I'm just being difficult," he said, looking back at his phone.
"You're allowed to be," Eunkwang said, a bright smile audible in his words. "Is there anything I can help with?"
Sungjong shook his head, then hesitated. "Maybe? Did you guys do subunits?"
Eunkwang nodded. "Most groups do," he said, leaning against the wall next to Sungjong. "You guys did, too, right?"
"Yeah. But I... I didn't like it. Aside from feeling weird having only three people on stage - two others with me - I didn't think we had songs that were that good." Sungjong put his phone away again. "They're talking about revisiting them."
"Same line-up?"Eunkwang asked.
Sungjong shrugged elegantly. "I don't know. I hope not? Because they can't do Infinite H without Hoya, and I don't really want to do Infinite F again. I didn't like it."
"Have you mentioned that?" Eunkwang asked softly as a group walked by, in full costume and obviously headed for the stage.
"A few times," Sungjong said. "I even had reasons for a couple of the discussions. And I got outvoted."
Eunkwang gave him an understanding smile. "That sounds frustrating. What would you prefer to do? No, that's not what I mean," he said, holding up a hand to stop Sungjong from speaking. "If you could create your dream subunit, what would it look like?"
Sungjong thought a moment. "I don't know," he said, brow furrowed.
"It might help if you have that," Eunkwang said gently. "Give them something to think about. You might not get it, but you also might."
Sungjong smiled. "Thanks," he said, straightening up to bow again. "I'll do that." Someone yelled his name - not someone, L - and he waved goodbye to Eunkwang to go find out what L wanted.
