"Doesn't anyone on your team want new mobile suits?" Jet questioned as he paced the length of the Pandemonium's newly-finished berth. "I'll build them new mobile suits."
Lan laughed and shook his head. "We're creatures of habit. I have Atropos, Gate has that Safphir that she'll use til it literally can't be repaired, Nina put a lot into customizing that Rubis, and the Emeraldes are all familiar and in good condition. You'll get us to test things, but other than that, it's going to be a hard sell."
Jet sighed.
"It's an open offer," he said after a moment. "I mean, I'd rather have a few graduating students stay, but so far I'm not getting the feeling that any of this year's are going to. Quite a few have offers from their home colonies already..."
"I suspect that's why Varuna was so keen to keep all of us on."
Jet shook his head. That wasn't how it was at all. Well, not entirely, but maybe a little. Varuna did everything he did for a reason, except for when it was a whim. But Jet was pretty sure the Pandemonium's crew wasn't just there to warm cockpits.
"I suppose I can just build some test-units," Jet said with a tiny smile. "Surely with enough temptation..."
It was Lan's turn to sigh.
