“I don’t like this at all,” Curtis said. “I know they think of themselves as wolves, but with the moon so high and bright, they’ll be more like sitting ducks.”
Randolph concurred with a curt nod. “That’s the first intelligent thing I’ve heard anyone from Whitehall say in living memory.”
“I’m not Whitehall, and the Bureau hasn’t been since 1913.”
“All weasels are grey in the dark,” Randolph snapped.
Curtis remained unruffled. “Nothing wrong with your eyesight. And sniping at me isn’t going to save those men from snipers.”
“I don’t know what can.” Their eyes met in unhappy understanding.
