Title: The Tree of Life with Ev'ry Good
Fandom: Green World
Pairing/Characters: Randolph Glyde & Sam Caldwell
Rating: G
Notes: The title's from a Lutheran hymn, "The Tree of Life."
Words: 100
Prompt: September 3, Randolph hits it off with someone at a costume party/ball; wait it's Sam?
The tree was a marvellous dancer. With no attempt at conversation, it expertly moved around in whatever role its partners seemed to need or require. It led, followed, shuffled, and sometimes simply provided support: its “waltz” with Lennox was nothing more than two people rooted to a spot in a platonic embrace, but Saul looked radiant as he gazed at them, mesmerized by the silent kindness of the poplar. Randolph wished he could have seen the tree with Theresa.
At Fetter Lane, he began, “You would have liked—”
He broke off, disbelievingly plucking a leaf out of Sam’s hair.
